Open-Access Self-Driving Laboratory

A 330 m² AI- and robotics-enabled autonomous research facility, operating 24 hours a day across the entire materials research cycle.

A NEW PARADIGM FOR MATERIALS RESEARCH

A new paradigm for materials research — autonomous, open, and continuous.

The OA-SDL automates the entire research cycle — from hypothesis generation and experimental design to synthesis, characterization, data learning, and prediction. By integrating AI-driven decision making with robotic execution, the platform accelerates the discovery and optimization of complex materials beyond what conventional manual experimentation can achieve.

Built as a flagship platform, the OA-SDL is open to academic, industrial, and international partners through a structured user program. Access modes include co-development collaborations, sponsored campaigns, and short-term training visits.

What's inside the OA-SDL

Robotic Synthesis Stations

Five robotic stations for liquid handling, solid dispensing, automated wet-process workflows, and high-throughput crystallization — fully orchestrated through the SDL workflow API.

Inline Characterization Suite

UV-Vis, FTIR, and Raman modules located adjacent to the synthesis stations for in-situ feedback. XRD and SEM accessible for end-of-batch analysis.

AI-Driven Decision Engine

Active learning, Bayesian optimization, and surrogate-model loops continually propose the next experiment — minimizing time-to-discovery and resource use.

Data Infrastructure & FAIR Storage

All experimental metadata, raw spectra, and processed datasets are stored under a FAIR-compliant infrastructure accessible to project teams via secure APIs.

Operating Hours & Contact

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is eligible to apply for OA-SDL access?

Researchers from academic institutions, national laboratories, and industry partners with verifiable institutional affiliation are eligible to apply. International applicants are equally welcome under the open-access program.

Q. What is the typical campaign duration on the OA-SDL?

A typical campaign runs 4–8 weeks depending on the chemistry, characterization needs, and decision-loop complexity. Long-form collaborations and short visits are both accommodated.
