Research Framework

The :site Research Framework is based on the proprietary Infinity-Σ Model, a cyclical structure in which five Technical Groups (TG) build foundational capabilities, while Core Projects (CP) are flexibly organized to address complex challenges, creating continuous synergy through their interaction.

:site operates a distinctive research framework structured around the interaction of Technical Groups (TG) and Core Projects (CP) to advance future-oriented convergence research.

A continuous cycle of capability and challenge

Infinity-Σ Diagram (TG ↔ CP)

Technical Groups (TG) serve as the foundational units that systematically accumulate expertise and long-term research capabilities. They build core technological competencies, such as materials design, analysis, characterization, device integration, and autonomous experimentation platforms, and develop fundamental technologies capable of addressing emerging scientific and technological challenges.

Core Projects (CP) are problem-oriented research units formed to integrate these capabilities in pursuit of specific strategic objectives. Multiple TGs collaborate within each CP to address pressing societal and industrial challenges. Research themes are selected based on nationally and institutionally prioritized strategic issues, enabling structured, cross-disciplinary collaboration.

WHY THIS FRAMEWORK

Beyond single-discipline research

01

Long-term capability

TGs systematically accumulate expertise that outlives any single project lifecycle.

02

Problem-driven focus

CPs target nationally and institutionally prioritized strategic challenges.

03

Cross-disciplinary

Multiple TGs collaborate within each CP — structured, not opportunistic, integration.

04

Continuous synergy

Project outcomes feed back into TGs, strengthening capabilities for future challenges.
